Obituary for Marylou Bullen

Marylou Bullen, age 71, of Portland, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018. She was born April 24, 1947, the daughter of Claude and Mary (Long) VanAmburg. She graduated from Portland High School in 1965 and she married Roger Bullen on October 2, 1965. Marylou enjoyed photography and camping and hiking with her husband, Roger. She was a loyal employee of Independent Bank of West Michigan as a Customer Service Representative for 17 years, retiring in 2007.

Preceding Marylou in death are her parents, Claude and Mary VanAmburg and her step-brother, Raymond VanAmburg. Marylou is survived by her beloved husband, Roger; sons, Derek Bullen and Kevin (Kathy) Bullen; daughter, Jeannine (David) Brown; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Carole Schrauben; step-sisters, Louise Josephson and Irene Giar; step-brothers, Fred (Deleores) VanAmburg and Lyle VanAmburg; and she will be sadly missed by her personal service dog, Gibbs.

The Funeral Service will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. Interment will follow at Danby Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel. In honor of Marylou, contributions may be made to ALS of Michigan or the Ionia County Animal Shelter. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
