Raider Softball Thrashes Okemos Twice to Remain Unbeaten


The varsity softball team continued its assault on the softball last night as they scored 34 runs on 27 hits in a doubleheader at Okemos. In game one Adrianna Novara struck out 7 of the 9 Chieftain batters and only gave up one hit in the shutout, 3 inning 15 – 0 mercy rule game. Leading hitters were Abby Grys who went 3 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI’s and Natalie Linebaugh went 2 for 3 with 5 RBI’s. Also contributing two hits were Taylor Trieweiler and Jada Walton.

In the second game Portland again defeated Okemos in the run rule shortened 3 inning game by the score of 19 – 0. Abby Grys was the leading hitter going 3 for 3 with 2 triples and 2 RBI’s. Taylor Trieweiler, Jada Walton, Ella Gardner and Emma Johnson each added two hits in the Raider victory. Adrianna Novara picked up her sixth win of the season and the second shutout of the day in her no hit 4 strikeout effort. The Raiders are now a perfect 6 – 0 and will travel to Hanover Horton for the Chris Brian Softball Tournament.
