Raider Softball Improves to 4-0 With Wins Over Haslett


The Portland Raider varsity softball team traveled to Haslett on Thursday and improved its record to 4 – 0.

The Raiders put on a hitting demonstration that may go unequaled. They put up 19 runs on 14 hits in three innings and scored 13 runs in one inning. Jada Walton and Adrianna Novara crushed home runs in the 19 – 2 victory and Novara hit for the cycle as well as recording 8 RBI’s in the game. Taylor Trierweiler, Natalie Linebaugh and Ella Gardner also added two hits apiece. Novara picked up her third win of the season in the game.

In the nightcap Portland continue its assault on the ball scoring 11 runs on 14 hits in just 5 innings. Taylor Trieweiler led all hitters going 3 for 3 with 4 RBI’s. Jada Walton, Abby Grys, Adrianna Novara, Allison Summers and Brooke Seal each added two hit to the Raider cause. In the 11 – 0 win Novara once again was the winning pitcher upping her record to 4 – 0. Having outstanding defensive nights were Natalie Linebaugh, Abby Grys and Ella Gardner.

The Raiders canceled the Portland Invitational scheduled for Saturday the 14th due to weather, but their next scheduled action is home on Tuesday the 17th when the host league rival Lansing Catholic starting at 4:00 PM.
