Hoxie-Green Awarded “Master Boardmember Award”
On Monday night at the Portland Public School Board meeting, board member Linda Hoxie Green was awarded with a “Master Boardmember Award” from the Michigan Association of School Boards.
Superintendent William Heath said, "Linda has been a dedicated member of our school and community for over 30 years. After she retired as an educator, Linda was elected to our school Board in May of 2011. She currently serves as our Board's Vice President and also serves on the Ionia Intermediate School District Board of Education. She is a tireless advocate for students and educators. Those that know her know that her heart is always in the game and she will fight to do what is right. I really appreciate her input and willingness to take on the more difficult tasks for our School Board."
According to the Michigan Association of School Boards website, “The Board Member Awards Program, with basic certification as its cornerstone, was developed in 1990 with input from both veteran Michigan school board members and representatives from higher education and state administrator organizations. Its goal is to enhance the ability of school boards to improve Michigan public schools and the achievement of 1.4 million Michigan students.”
