Sub Shop Coming to Town

If you have driven by the Village Coin Laundry on East Grand River Ave recently, you may have noticed that one portion of the building is being renovated into a separate storefront. The laundromat is to have a new neighbor as that space is soon to become the home of a new restaurant, J-Dubbs Signature Subs.
Originally from Lowell, Michigan, J-Dubbs also has locations in Saranac and Gun Lake. According to Operations Manager Scott Day, the other locations were originally Jersey Giant restaurants and their menu is similar. The chain is expanding east with the opening of their new location in Portland, which will be their first store started from the ground up.
While their menu is similar to Jersey Giant, they offer an expanded menu featuring toasted subs. “...we have added a meatball, turkey bacon ranch, and we offer grinders,” says Day. He also says that their bread is fresh baked from the Grand Rapids Baking Company, which he says is, “far superior.”
“It’s just really an excellent sandwich,” says Day. While still under construction at their Portland location, health department and permitting is proceeding on schedule for an April 5th opening. “We are very excited to serve the greater Portland area with the very best subs and grinders,” says Day
