After the game, Raider coach Jason Haid said, “Fowlerville is a very tough match-up, not only for us but for a lot of teams. They have got some girls that can post you inside, they can take you outside. That Elie Smith girl can post you up, she can shoot threes. Jackie Jarvis, number 22, she is a shorter, very physical, very strong guard, who can drive to the basket and she was also posting up on our smaller guards as well.”
Haid also said, “Our game plan was to take the Smith girl away, which we held her to 10 points, but the problem is everyone else seemed to be hitting shots tonight. We came out with a lot of energy, and it was one of those nights where we couldn’t throw it in the ocean for starters, and I thought they were just more aggressive than us. They beat us to a lot of loose balls. They wanted it a little bit more than we did tonight. That was very evident and we talked about it after the game. We talked about if we are going to continue moving in the right direction we are going to have to be more physical first and foremost. We can’t control some nights if our shots are going to go in or not, but we can control how much we want to win. I felt like they wanted it a little bit more than us. We just need to come back to practice on Monday and toughen up a little bit. We have a big tough game against DeWitt on Tuesday and then we have a big conference game next Friday, so we have got to get those things fixed in a hurry.”
The Raiders record moves to 3-10 on the season. Next week they will travel to 13-1 DeWitt on Tuesday, then to 5-6 Lansing Catholic on Friday.
