Portland Civic Players to Stage Escanaba in Da Moonlight

The cast has been selected and rehearsals are underway for the Portland Civic Players

spring production, Escanaba In Da Moonlight by Jeff Daniels.

This hilarious and relatable comedy is set at the Soady deer camp in Michigan’s upper

peninsula, the day before the opening of deer season. Reuben Soady is in danger of

becoming the oldest member in the history of the Soady family never to bag a buck. He

goes to any and all lengths to ensure this trend doesn’t continue!

The cast includes Richard Hans as Albert Soady, Christian Powell as Remnar Soady,

Rory Miller as Reuben Soady, Jeff Massey as Jimmer Negamanee, Clay Ramsey as

Ranger Tom T. Treado, Shelley Perry as Wolf Moon Dance Soady, and Tyler Tichvon.

The play is directed by Roger Miller and assistant director Shelley Perry. You’re sure to

enjoy this hunting story to beat all hunting stories!

In addition, the Portland Civic Players is excited to be collaborating with Ionia County

Relay for Life for this production. $5 from each ticket sold will go to benefit Ionia

County Relay For Life. “We are so excited to be able to bring this fun and entertaining

show to our community; and thrilled to be partnering with the Ionia County Relay for

Life to help raise funds for this worthy cause. We hope to see folks from communities

county wide at the show!” said Mary Teachout, PCP President. "We're thrilled to partner

with the Portland Civic Players on their spring production of Escanaba in Da

Moonlight," said Alyssa Sherman, Event Lead Relay for Life of Ionia County. "When

passionate people come together to use their talent and hard work for a worthy

cause like fighting cancer the whole community wins!" The American Cancer

Performance dates are March 9-11 and 16-17. Friday and Saturday performances are at

7:30pm with the Sunday performance at 3:00pm at the Portland Playhouse 231 Maple

Street, Portland.
