Shamrock Girls Fall to Laingsburg

The Shamrock girls basketball team fell to the Wolfpack of Laingsburg on Tuesday night, 58-32.

Leading scorers for St. Patrick were senior Katie Coyne with nine points, and juniors Annie Gunderman and Lexi Hass each with five points.

For Laingsburg, senior Sophie Wilsey had 21 points, and senior Sophie Strieff had 16 points.

Score by quarter:

1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final

St. Patrick 11 12 6 3 32

Laingsburg 20 4 18 16 58

After the game, Shamrock coach Al Schrauben said, “Good comeback from a slow start, and then actually took the lead in the third quarter about half way through, and then I thought we got a little sloppy with the ball. Then when that happened they picked up a little energy and got too many easy buckets. Overall, other than the first four minutes of the game and the last four or five minutes, I was reasonably pleased. We rebounded much better than we did last time. They are a good ball club, and we have to play a little better to beat those kind off teams, and not have moments when we get stupid.”

The Wolfpack moves to a nine and one overall record on the season. The Shamrocks record moves to five and four. Their next game will be at home on Thursday night against Fulton.
