Obituary for Knowell “Wade” Hampton


Knowell “Wade” Hampton, 68, born in Ypsilanti, Michigan, residing in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed from his earthly home on December 21, 2017, at his residence. Wade was born on November 24, 1949. Wade’s unexpected death has left a void in his wife’s heart, and he will be greatly missed by family and friends. In 1999, Wade married Marge Brown of Sunfield, Michigan.

Survivors are his wife, Marge, daughter, Amanda (Andre) Diaz of Vancouver, Washington, brother Lee Hampton of Texarkana, Arkansas, and sister Patricia (Richard) Smith of Portland, Michigan. Together, Wade and Marge have been blessed with seven beautiful grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Wade served 22 months in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1969. Since that time, Wade furthered his career in mechanics and construction and held many supervising positions in the same.

Wade enjoyed traveling and camping with his wife and, could most often times be found playing online golf. His most precious love was Molly, their precious pet, whom he adored, as she did him.

A memorial service will be held February 11, 2018, at the Sunset Ridge community room at 7204 East Grand River Avenue in Portland, Michigan, at 3:00 p.m. This special service will be a time of remembering Wade and celebrating his life. All friends and family are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Olmedo Mission Ministry for their work in Spain. Envelopes will be available at the service; or contributions can be sent to SUMC-Olmedo Mission, P. O. Box 354, Sunfield, MI 48890.
