Patti Fish Taking New Role at Oakwood Elementary

At the November 13th Portland Public Schools Board of Education meeting, Patti Fish was confirmed at the new Behavior Coach at Oakwood Elementary School. The official name of the new position is Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS)/Behavior Coach.

Fish started in the new role on November 3rd. This is her fifth year working in the district. When asked about her new role, she said, “My primary role will be working with teachers and staff to help with student behavior.”

Superintendent Will Heath said, "Our behavior coach position was created to support our teaching staff in handling student behaviors. As we implement this position our focus will be to ensure that all students get the support and interventions that they need to be successful. We are looking to decrease the amount of time it takes to provide support and to build capacity in the classroom. Patti Fish was a special education teacher in the district and has been selected to take on this responsibility. In her time at Portland she has proven to be a strong student advocate. Her ability to work with all staff to ensure student success was a key factor in her selection. I am confident that Patti will be successful in implementing this position."
