Obituary for Marjorie Ann (Bachi, Taylor) Paradis

March 2, 1933 - October 8, 2017 (age 84)

Marjorie Ann (Bachi, Taylor) Paradis 84 of Elk Rapids MI, went home to be with her Lord on Oct. 8, 2017. Marge was born March 2, 1933 to Floy and Amil Bachi. The youngest of 8 children, she lived and grew up in Elk Rapids and graduated from High school in 1950. She went on to Sparrow Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1954. She married Gordon E. Taylor from Sunfield MI in 1955. They had four sons together. After Gordon died in 1966 she raised four boys on her own. She encouraged her sons to hunt and readily cooked up just about anything they brought home. She would be the first to tell you that it takes a community to raise a child because she had many wonderful friends and family to help in and around the Sunfield area and around the state. She worked as a nurse for Dr. Nathan Joseph from 1966-1973. She worked for the Barry Eaton Health Department from 1973 until she retired in 1988. She returned to Elk Rapids in 1988. She married Mitchell Paradis in 1989 and worked alongside Mitchell in the Cherry and Apple orchards. She lost Mitchell in 2001. She stayed in Elk Rapids where she had many dear friends and special nieces. In Jan. 2017 she moved into a retirement home in Traverse City.

She answered to Mom, Mother (Don’t call her Ma) Grandma, Nanna, Grandma Great, Aunt Marge, Marge and Margie. (“Love”, no matter how you spelled it). She was a loving wife, a loving Mother and a wonderful Aunt and Grandmother. She loved her family and was active in the Kewadin Methodist Church, Elk Rapids Historical Museum, PEO, and other organizations. She loved spending time with family and friends, cooking for them and for anyone or any organization or charity in need. She loved to read, especially the Bible, loved the Lord and loved to collect Angels. She was a strong woman despite her small stature. If you knew Marge and her sisters then you understood that the Good Lord made them small for a reason, (because they all had to be in the kitchen at the same time). To see Marge, her sisters and their mom cooking together was truly a blessing and you never went away hungry. Her eyes were Bachi blue and complimented the early gray hair that the four sons take full responsibility for. She will be dearly missed but we know she is in a better place for the Lord has made a room for her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Seven brothers and sisters, First Husband Gordon Taylor, and Second Husband Mitchell Paradis. She is survived by her four sons, Tim (Jane) Taylor, Dan (Kristin) Taylor, Nick (Deb) Taylor, David Taylor, Step Children, Mike and Glen Paradis, Donna Cook and Lu Anne Langusch and their families, many grand and great grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held 4-6 PM Friday Oct. 13, 2017 at the Rosier Funeral Home, Mapes-Fisher Chapel in Sunfield, MI. Graveside services will be held 3 PM Friday Oct. 13, 2017 at the Sunfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-2:30 PM Saturday Oct. 14, 2017 at the Kewadin United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held 3 PM Saturday Oct. 14, 2017 at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids, MI.
