Shamrock Softball Splits with PW

St. Patrick Varsity softball traveled to Pewamo Westphalia on Monday. St. Patrick split with the Pirates.

Game #1: Final Score: 6-7

Carly Scheurer went 2 for 4, with a double and 2 RBIs. Addie Scheurer went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Mara Schrauben added 2 RBIs. Lydia Meredith went 2 for 4 and defensively had 3 assists and a PO. Aurora Beckhold also went 2 for 4. Carly Scheurer took the loss in game one and had 5 SO’s.

Game #2: Final Score: 8-5

Bella Meyers went 2 for 4, with a double and an RBI. Mara Schrauben went 3 for 4. Carly Scheurer went 2 for 3. Aurora Beckhold went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Addie Scheurer went 1 for 3 with a walk, a Double and an RBI. Jamelyn Forist went 1 for 2, with two walks and an RBI. Rylee Scheurer took the win and had 11 strikeouts.

Coaches Comments:

After this evening’s split we walked away with a very clear vision of our strengths and needs. Our girls came out focused and ready to battle in game one, but quit hitting the base hits we needed to close. We allowed PW to come back and we failed to shut that down late in our innings. In game two we shifted our mindset and used the grit we needed to turn up our intensity and focus in the bottom of the 6th. We held that lead, and took a win we believe we deserved. We left girls on base all night long, and we need to find a way to convert those into runs and take leads when they are available. Our league is strong and we knew that going in to tonight, it’s important we bring the grit every night. We look forward to traveling to Saranac on Thursday for our next league contests.
