Shamrock softball picks up two wins over PW
St. Patrick Varsity softball hosted CMAC rival, PW this evening for a home doubleheader. The Shamrocks held PW and took two wins this evening for a solid CMAC matchup.
Game 1: 10-5 Rylee Scheurer led the Shamrocks with 6 strikeouts against an aggressively hitting PW team. Tori Sandborn led the Shamrocks at the plate going 3/3 with an RBI, Rylee Scheurer went 3/4 with a double and 4 RBIs, Carly Scheurer went 2/4 with 3 RBIs and Addie Scheurer added 1 RBI. Game 2: 8-3 Carly Scheurer led the Shamrocks with 3 strikeouts and pitching efficiently with 50 strikes out of 75 pitches. Rylee Scheurer led the Shamrocks at the plate going 3/4 with one homerun and 1 RBI, Carly Scheurer went 1/3 to it’s a double and 3 RBIs, Addie Scheurer added 2 RBIs and Lydia Meredith added an additional RBI. Coaches Comments: Both Rylee Scheurer and Carly Scheurer led the team with well located placement that caused PW to put hits in play where we could make great plays. Addie Scheurer worked with tremendous grit behind the plate and held runners in place, as well as picked off stolen base attempt and a dynamic throw to Mara Schrauben at third to pick off a lead runner. Lydia Meredith and Emma Honsowitz completed a huge double play to hold off runners in game two. Natalee Teachworth had three phenomenal foul ball catches for big outs in game 2. Mara Schrauben and Lydia Meredith took away the left side in game two. We stayed aggressive at the plate despite Lauren’s offspeed pitch sequences. Rylee Scheurer had an electric homerun into right center. Our base runners stayed aggressive and took extra bases on any ball not caught or off track throws. This is something we’ve been working on, so watching it come together and continuously working on the small things allows us to manufacture them into runs in big moments and should be satisfying to the girls. We continue league play on Thursday against Saranac.
