Shamrock boys sweep Bath
On Thursday, April 22nd, the Portland St. Patrick Shamrock boys baseball visited Bath for a doubleheader with the Bees. Historically, the Bees are a very solid baseball program, but this year they just couldn't compete with the Shamrocks, falling in both games.
In the first game, the Shamrocks jumped out hard, scoring 4 runs in the first two innings, 3 in the 3rd and 4th, and 11 in the 5th. Shane Cook picked up the win, pitching 4 innings, striking out 7, allowing 3 hits and no runs. Tristin Huhn finished the job, pitching one inning, giving up 1 hit and 1 strikeout. The Shamrocks cruised to a 25-0 win. At the plate, Shane Cook was 4 for 4 with 3 RBI's 2 walks, 6 scores and 3 RBI's, Connor Cross was 1 for 3 with 3 walks, 1 RBI and 4 scores, and Evan Schrauben was 1 for 4 with 3 RBI's 1 walk and 1 score. Chase Fitzsimmons was 0-1, but scored 5 times and had 3 walks.
In the second game, Connor Cross picked up the win on the mound, pitching a 3 inning no hitter, striking out 8. Chase Fitzsimmons came in the last 2 innings, giving up 3 hits, and striking out 3. The Shamrocks won handily, 12-2 after 5 innings. At the plate, Connor Cross went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's and 2 scores, Shane Cook went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI and 1 score, and Evan Schrauben went 1 for 2 with 2 RBI's.
The Shamrocks play next on Monday, April 26th. Home against Vestaburg. They also play Thursday, April 29th home against Laingsburg.
