Shamrock boys drop close one to Fulton

On Tuesday, February 23rd the Shamrocks of Portland St. Patrick hosted the Pirates from Fulton. The Shamrocks fought hard, but too many turnovers and missed free throws led to a Pirate win, 59-48.

In the first quarter, Chase Fitzsimmons started out strong with 4 points before getting into foul trouble. The Pirates took a 15-10 lead going into the second quarter.

In the second quarter, Evan Schrauben put in 7 points, and Connor Cross had 4, and the Shamrocks tied the Pirates in the quarter, 13-13, leaving the score 28-23 going into halftime.

The third quarter was consistent for the Shamrocks, with Connor Cross and Shane Cook putting in 4 a piece, but the Pirates were still better, winning the quarter 16-13 and taking a 44-36 lead going into the final quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Shamrocks made a run, even taking a lead at one point before losing in the end.

Offensive leaders for the Shamrocks were Evan Schrauben with 16 points and 3 steals, and Connor Cross with 12 points and 5 rebounds.

St. Patrick hosts Carson City-Crystal on Friday, February 26th at Home.
