Raider Wrestlers Recognize Seniors, Stay Undefeated in CAAC White and Win Comstock Invite

The Raider Wrestlers had another successful week of wrestling. Wednesday the Raiders hosted their Senior Night, recognizing 11 senior statisticians and wrestlers, their parents and their accomplishments. Then, the Raiders ousted the Ionia Bulldogs (59-15) and the St. Johns Redwings (54-21) putting them 3-0 in the CAAC White with the Eaton Rapids Greyhounds being the only team left to get in their way of their 3rd consecutive league title.

Against Ionia, the Raiders recorded 9 pins, with Senior Drew Miller recording the fastest pin of the night at :39 seconds!

Against St. Johns the team recorded 7 pins where Freshman Gunnar Williams secured that fastest pin in just :40 seconds!

On Friday night, the Raiders traveled to Comstock for an invitational with 11 teams. They succeeded in becoming the 2023 Comstock Invitational Champions tallying up 210.5 points, where 11 of their 13 entered wrestlers placed 4th or higher. In total, 6 Raiders took 1st place: Connor Gleason (120 lbs), Ethan Webert (126 lbs), Drew Miller (132 lbs), Gunnar Williams (175 lbs), Branson Goodman (190 lbs) and Mark Meyers (215 lbs).

Coach Andy Pulling said, “Wednesday night was a special night recognizing our seniors and their hard work throughout their careers. As a team, we came in with a plan and executed really well which was a great way to support our seniors.

Friday Night we started out a bit flat, but as the tournament progressed we found our groove and wrestled well. We were dominant in finals winning 90% of our matches where most were by pin. We’re a good team having fun and each week we are getting better.”
