Raider Baseball splits with Charlotte, sweeps Fowlerville
Tuesday: Charlotte at Portland
Game 1
The Raiders fought back after falling down by six runs in the fifth inning. They scored eight runs but fell short on their comeback in a 9-8 defeat to Charlotte on Tuesday. Trenton Trierweiler started on the hill for the Raiders. He allowed four hits and seven runs over four and a third innings, striking out five. Mark Meyers and Brady Bush entered the game as relief, throwing two and two-thirds innings and one inning respectively. Barrett Brennan went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Raiders in hits.
GAME 2
Raiders snagged a late lead and defeated Charlotte 3-2 on Tuesday. The game was tied at two with the Raiders batting in the bottom of the fourth when an error scored one run for the Raiders. Brady Bush started the game on the mound. The righthander lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out three and walking zero. Mark Nobis came in and closed out the game with a WIN for the Raiders. The lefty surrendered zero runs on two hits over three and a third innings, striking out three and walking zero.
Hot bats for the 2nd game included – Mark Nobis, Marky Meyers, and Trenton Trierweiler each collected one hit to lead Portland Varsity Raiders.
Thursday: Portland at Fowlerville
Game 1
Brady Bush pitched to victory in game one against the Fowlerville Gladiators. Bush went five innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out three. Mark Nobis threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. The Raiders scattered 11 hits in the game. Ryan Leonard, Brady Bush, Mark Nobis, and Mark Meyers all collected multiple hits for Portland. Leonard led the Raiders going 3-for-4 at the plate. Game 2 Mark Nobis had all the right stuff on Thursday for the Raiders. Nobis led Portland to a 15-0 victory on the pitcher's mound. Nobis allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one. The Raiders bats never slowed down and had 12 hits in the game. Barrett Brennan, Caden Thelen, Ryan Leonard, and Trenton Trierweiler each collected multiple hits. Leonard, Thelen, and Brennan each collected three hits. The Raiders did not commit a single error in the field!
The Raider squads moves to six wins and one loss on the season. They opened with Mason, winning the first game, but the second game was ended early dud to darkness and was not considered a full game. They also swept Laingsburg.
Their next scheduled action is on Tuesday when they travel to Lansing Catholic
