Portland Varsity Tennis Defeats Jackson Lumen Christi

With the Regional Tournament coming up on Thursday, the Portland Varsity Tennis team headed to Spring Arbor University to take on another top 10 D4 team, Jackson Lumen Christi. Lumen is a strong team and likely to qualify for the state tournament, so they were great competition for the Raiders. The Portland team was more than ready to show why they, too, are a top 10 D4 team. Portland emerged victorious again with a 6-2 win over Lumen.

Special match recognition goes to 1 doubles, Maura Lufkin & Corey Smith, for winning 6-0, 6-0. Additional recognition goes to the 4 doubles team of Ally Logel & Alexa Weber for never giving up in their 3-set win of 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. Impressive work for their third varsity match!!

The team heads to Holt Tuesday for a tri with Holt and Haslett. Portland will also host Regionals Thursday when they will be looking to repeat as Regional Champs and qualify for the State Tournament.
