Portland Varsity Baseball takes two from Carson City Crystal in the Springs Sports Carnival!
The Raiders defeated Carson City Crystal 6-0 & 4-0 in a doubleheader on Saturday!
In the first game, Marky Meyers started on the mound for the Raiders, throwing three innings giving up zero runs, zero hits, and striking out five. Evan Thelen threw the remaining four innings in relief. Barrett Brennan led the Raiders offensively with three hits in four at-bats. Five other Raiders contributed for a total of 8 hits.
In game two for the Raiders, Paul Roberts led things off on the bump. Roberts threw three scoreless innings allowing one hit and striking out six. Brody Moore & Gunner Williams also each threw two innings in relief. The Raiders had five hits in the nightcap with contributions from Caden Thelen, Marc Nobis, Evan Thelen, Carson Martin, and Brady Krause.
The Raiders will play the next six games on the road! Tuesday, 5/9, they will face league rivals Eaton Rapids. Thursday, 5/11, they play at Haslett and Saturday, 5/13, they take on the Grand Ledge Comets in a doubleheader! The Raiders are currently 10-4.
