Portland High’s Reis Phillips to Continue Football Career at Albion College
PHS senior Reis Phillips will be playing football for the Albion College Britons next fall.
As a Raider, Phillips was a member of the football and track programs. In football, he was twice awarded All-Conference honors, and in his senior season was All-Regional, First Team All-State coach's, and Second Team All-State Associated Press.
Phillips told the Beacon, “I chose to Albion because the environment was great, I felt comfortable being there. The coaches were also great people and fun to work with during the recruiting process. It is a school I was able to see myself at for the next four years, and they have a great football team.”
Phillips went on to say, “I would like to thank coach Bill Nowak for mentoring me throughout my high school and helping me through my worst times and getting me back to where I needed to be for football after I broke my ankle freshman year. I would also like to thank coach Brian Hillis for pushing me during practice to be the best I could be as well mentoring me throughout the last 3 years. Lastly, I'd like to thank coach John Novara for giving me a chance as a sophomore to prove myself and allowing me to earn a starting spot on varsity and for trusting me during the games to make big plays and carry the ball.”
The Britons of Albion College compete at the NCAA III level and are members of the Michigan Collegiate Athletic Association.
