Portland Community Fund Coat Drive Giveaway a Success
The Portland Community Fund Coat Drive Giveaway was held October 16th at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Portland. Over 30 families took home 80 coats. Numbers were down this year but those who came got some nice coats, hats, gloves, boots and new shoes. We were given cash donations to use to purchase 44 new coats and we were given over 30 new coats. What was left over was taken to The Portland Community Clothes Closet and other organizations.
We would like to thank the following; Portland Public Schools (Will Heath and Gary Bond) for the use of a bus and Bill’s Party Store (Bill Lear Jr.) for letting us park it there for a week. Ted Goodman of Goodman Dairy Farm, Scott Teachout and Joel VanSlambrouck at G and B Pool Supplies as sponsors of “Stuff the Bus”. The Knights of Columbus Hall provided their building for sorting and the Giveaway. We had many helpers for sorting so a “Big Thank You” to Independent Bank Employees, PHS Honor Society Students, Simon Insurance-Mike Teranova and his office staff.
We thank everyone for their donations and support of our organization. It was a total community project. Neighbors helping Neighbors!
