PFCU Employees donate $8,006.00 to Habitat for Humanity of Ionia County

Ionia County faces a daunting challenge that many rural communities face: providing affordable homes, a vibrant community that also provides a “small-town” feel. Habitat for Humanity for Ionia County provides affordable housing in the hopes of rebuilding our community and building a stronger Ionia County.

Michele Makley, PFCU’s President/CEO sits on the Ionia Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors and is elated that the employees chose a charity recipient that she is so passionate about. “It was an easy decision to want to serve on the Habitat Board. Habitat provides a “Hand Up, not a Hand Out”. Makley said. She went on, “Habitat helps where there are needs which also aligns with the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People”. Everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to live and Habitat helps to provide that one house at a time. “

PFCU employees are given the option to wear jeans and tennis shoes throughout the year for a minimum donation automatically deducted from their paycheck. The monies collected accumulate and each quarter the employees choose a charity to donate to. In the fourth quarter of 2022, $8,006.00 was raised by employees.
