Obituary for Ruth A. (Wohlscheid) Newton

Ruth went home to be with the Lord on January 1, 2023, where she will join the love of her life, Ray who is waiting for her there.

Ruth was loved by all who knew her. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart. She shared his love with everyone she met.

Ruth was a woman of many talents. She worked many different jobs in her lifetime – she made electronic components at Michigan Magnetics in Vermontville, she was a bookkeeper at several local businesses, she made baby clothes at Baby Bliss in Nashville, and she retired from Marlene’s Bridal in Charlotte, where she was the supervisor over all the seamstresses.

She married the love of her life, Ray E. Newton on November 6, 1954. They raised their four children: Douglas (Nina) Newton of Columbia City, Indiana, Janet (Don) Morey of Charlotte, Michigan, James (Kari) Newton of Vermontville, Michigan, and Anthony (Karen) Newton of Marshall, Michigan. She was a grandmother to 14 and a great-grandmother to 21. Ruth is predeceased by her parents, Sylvester and V. Viola Wohlscheid; brother, John Wohlscheid; sister, Joanne Howard; and grandson, James Thomas Newton. She was separated from the love of her life, Ray, on September 18, 2021.

A Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Charlotte Church of Christ, 64 Vansickle Drive, Charlotte, Michigan 48813. The family will receive visitors beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
