Norman Allie Vernon, of Portland, passed away on December 31, 2022, at the age of 76. He was born in Bismark, North Dakota to Harry and Dorothy (Derry) Vernon. Norman served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He drove truck for many years and enjoyed bowling in his freetime. Norman loved his family, especially his grandchildren.


Preceding Norman in death are his parents; son, Vincent Vernon, daughter-in-law, Julie Ridenour; and many brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou Vernon; sons, Kenneth (Suzzanne) Ridenour, Eugene Ridenour, and Von (Vivian) Vernon; grandchildren, Kendra, Kristina, Jessica (Mikie), Rachel (Scott, Jr.), Harley, Kenleh, and Victoria (Bruce); 13 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Eugene Vernon and Harry Vernon.


The Funeral Service will be officiated by Rev. Steve Hadley at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Vernon Family in memory of Norman.
