Obituary for Jack D.C. Patrick


Jack D.C. Patrick, age 78, of DeWitt, passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer. He was married to Janice, the love of his youth, for 59 years. Their unique love story began in kindergarten.


He is survived by his wife, Janice (Mellstead); two daughters, Kris Huson (Gregg Thompson) and Beth (Pete) McAndrews; five grandchildren that he adored: Lauren, Rochel, and Jason Huson and Olivia and Peter McAndrews; two great-grandchildren, Carson and Price; and one brother, Ron (Mary) Patrick of Portland. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Beulah Patrick of Portland.


Jack grew up in Portland, Michigan and he graduated from Portland High School in 1960. He was a member of the marching band and he loved to play sports. Jack was also a proud member of the 1959 undefeated, unscored upon Portland Raider football team. Their football team was later inducted into the Greater Lansing High School Sports Hall of Fame.


He graduated from MSU in 1964 and became a CPA. Jack retired from KPMG as a senior managing partner in 1996.

A Memorial Service honoring Jack will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your favorite charity in Jack's name.
