Obituary for Cynthia Louise (Shultz) Sonday

Cynthia Louise Sonday, 63, of Portland, MI, passed away on January 1, 2022 in Portland after a courageous, twelve year battle with cancer.

A celebration of life will occur in the spring of 2022, date and time to be determined.

Cindy Sonday was born in Lansing, MI to Dora and Warren Shultz on October 10, 1958. She graduated from Portland High School, class of 1977. Cindy worked as a professional cosmetologist, following as a corrections officer at the Ionia Correctional Facility for more than ten years. She loved spending time with her family, sons, grandchildren, and dogs. Cindy was involved in the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW, enjoyed performing weddings and unions as an ordained minister, providing relief to many as a Reiki Master, teaching and sharing her knowledge of essential oils, was an avid dog and animal lover, and loved gardening and bird watching.

Cindy is preceded in death by grandparents, Clarence and Noran Rogers and father, Warren Shultz.

Cindy is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Lisa) Sonday and Timothy Sonday; her sisters, Jan (Craig) Calvert, Patricia (Rex) Hackett, and Sandra (Monnie) Dunn; mother, Dora Shultz; grandchildren, Evan, Kylie, Lydia, and Connor Sonday.

The family of Cindy Sonday wishes to extend our sincere thanks to our family friend, Betty Leyrer and all those involved in the care and comfort of Cindy in her final days.
