Lady Raiders top Haslett 38-36

On Saturday, the Portland girls basketball team traveled to state ranked Haslett. The Vikings of Haslett entered the game with an 11-1 record.
The Lady Raiders battled hard and came away with a huge 38-36 win.
Scoring by quarter:
1st – 2nd – 3rd – 4th – Final
Portland 14 – 9 – 6 – 6 – 38
Haslett 9 – 11 – 10 – 6 – 36
Portland was led by junior Ava Guilford who scored 15 points. Junior Ashley Bower added 14 points while senior Ava Gruber scored eight points for the Raiders.
The Vikings were led by sophomore Emily Homan with 11 points.
With the win, Portland moves to 12-2 overall.
Their final week of the regular season includes:
Monday 3/15 Home vs Ionia (5-8)
Saturday 3/20 Home vs Lowell (5-9)
The following week will be district action for the Lady Raiders. They will be hosting district 37 and earned a first-round bye. In the district semi-final they will face the winner of Alma (5-7) and Shepherd (6-5). The other half of the district included Belding (8-3), Ionia and Central Montcalm (9-4).
