Seniors Andrew Feldpausch and Owen Moore closed out their remarkable high school cross country careers on Saturday at the MHSAA Division 2 State Finals held at Michigan International Speedway. The pair finished just five seconds apart — Feldpausch at 17:02 and Moore at 17:07 — a fitting end for teammates who have trained side by side for the past three years.
The duo leaves behind a legacy cemented in the Portland Raider record books, ranking second and third all-time with personal bests of 16:24 (Moore) and 16:25 (Feldpausch).
Feldpausch capped off a tremendous senior season that included a CAAC White Championship, 10 sub-17-minute performances on nine different courses, and a state finals qualification. After joining cross country as a sophomore, he became a three-time all-conference runner and a model of consistency for the program.
Moore, meanwhile, wraps up an outstanding four-year career as one of Portland’s all-time greats. A four-time CAAC White All-Conference selection, he qualified for the Division 2 State Finals in both his junior and senior seasons and was a cornerstone of the team’s sustained success.
Together with Coach Ariel Davids, Feldpausch and Moore have been pillars of the Portland cross country program, leaders whose commitment and work ethic helped shape the team’s identity and bright future. Both athletes plan to continue their running careers at the collegiate level, and the entire Raider community wishes them the very best as they take the next step.
