2022 Portland Boys Track & Field Preview
Head Coach: Bart Simpson (2nd year)
Returning Athletes:
Potential Newcomers or Up & Coming Improved Athletes: Potential Newcomers or Up & Coming Improved Athletes:
Our sophomore class was shy last season and a little hesitant to try events. We are looking for Boden Nye, Issac Dakin, Conner Kazamer, Devin Spitzley, Nate Pianosi, and Jason Pohl to trust coaches and expand their event list that they may be strong in. While Track’s tough for incoming freshman, Brody Sanborn is attacking workouts and should improve our distance, along with 1st timer Josh Alldering, who will also be asked to High Jump. The rest of this year’s freshman class of Jacob Weller, Sam VanVansiclen, Bryce Fullet, Mason McGreghor, Ashton Hower, Tom Perron, and Hunter Luxmore are fearless and are looking to put their names on our Freshman Top 10 record lists.
Last Season Record: 0-4
Last CAAC League Track Title: Never
2022 League Predictions:
1st - Ionia
2nd - Lansing Catholic
3rd - Charlotte
4th - Portland
5th - Eaton Rapids
6th - Lansing Sexton
Season Goals: With roughly 30 “first time” Track athletes last year and another good number of new boys coming in again, one goal is to find events for everyone, improve and be competitive in every dual meet. With our several returning upperclassmen, we’d like to do some scoring and medaling at each invitational, and to score and improve at Regionals and our CAAC Championship at the end of the year.
