City Receives No Bids by Deadline on Thirteen Parcel Section of Surplus Real Estate in Cherry Hill E

The Portland City Council has not received any bids on thirteen parcels of land located in Cherry Hill Estates on the west side of Portland. City Manager, Tutt Gorman, reported to the Council on Monday night that there were interested parties, but no bids had been received by the published deadline.

The city originally obtained the property in January 2012 from Ionia County, after tax foreclosure, by way of a quitclaim deed recorded at the Ionia County Register of Deeds.

The properties are of no functional use to the city and would be better utilized by a developer and placed back on the city tax rolls. Development is restricted to condominiums and must comply with established Cherry Hill Estate guidelines.

Gorman told the Beacon this afternoon that the City “will regroup and consider all options” regarding the property moving forward.
