Portland Community Fund Association Coat Giveaway
Due to COVID 19 the Portland Community Fund Association will not have a coat drive and giveaway as usual. It would be very difficult to collect and distribute coats and outerwear in a safe way. We will not be having the “Stuff the Bus” this year.
If you are in need of a winter coat and outerwear, we will work with you to get one. Call Sandy Olson at 517-647-6306 or Jessica Ladisky at 517-526-1766 with the size and sex of the person or persons needing a coat. You must be signed up ahead of time to get a winter coat or outerwear. Distribution details will be given out later. THE DEADLINE TO REQUEST A COAT IS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10TH.
To donate gently, used coats or to buy a person a new coat call Sandy or Jessica.
Another option to get a coat is to visit the Portland Community Clothes Closet located at the Portland United Methodist Church, 310 Bridge Street. The coats and clothing are available free of charge. The hours are Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. and Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Applications for the Portland Community Fund Association’s Christmas Giving Program will be available at the beginning of October. Applications will be available at the schools, Portland City Hall, Tom’ Pharmacy and Portland Apartments. Any family residing in the Portland School district that may need assistance or anyone who knows of someone who could use extra assistance should fill out an application.
