“If we don’t start the change-we are part of the problem” - Michael Zesaguli, Jr. Event Organizer
Over two hundred Portland area residents gathered tonight at Powers Park to peacefully protest and join tens of thousands world-wide to honor George Floyd, the man who was murdered by a Minneapolis Police Officer who knelt on his neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds.
Most of the attendees carried signs of “Black Lives Matter”, “I can’t breathe” and “No Justice, No Peace”.
The event was highlighted by those in attendance kneeling on the grass for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. Then the crowd chanted, “Black Lives Matter” and “No Justice, No Peace” and concluded by saying George Floyd’s name.
