Free Breakfast and Lunch During School Closure
The following information is from a communication sent to the parents of students in the Portland Public School District by Superintendent Will Heath on Sunday, March 15th.
As we go into our first week of shutdown it is important for us to provide as many services as we can while we are closed. One of our most critical services that we provide as a school district is serving breakfast and lunch to students. The State of Michigan is working with school districts to provide free breakfast and lunch for school age children while schools are closed. Portland Public Schools is excited to announce that over the next three weeks we will provide two meals a day to ALL school aged children. If your family is in need of meals, please take advantage of this service. Traditionally this service is offered to Free and Reduced students only. Because of the nature of our closure, the guidelines have been changed in order to allow us to qualify all students regardless of economic status.
To assist our food service department in providing this service please take our survey at https://forms.gle/ekcJzEnr3DQjQ6X7A This will help us gauge the level of service needed. Survey completion is not required, any information needed can be given at time of pick up during the week of March 15 - 21.
Please share this information with anyone who may need this service.
