Mike and Cindy Ward are the proud owners of Hometown Sports, a custom screen-printing and custom embroidery shop that also sells athletic apparel, casual clothing, and fan wear.
Mike runs the business with the help of his daughters, Amanda May and Ashley Ward. Mike has been in the screen-printing and embroidery business for fifteen years.
“We are one of the few businesses in the area that offers custom embroidery and custom clothing printing,” said Amanda. “But not only do we get local orders, we also get orders from all over the state and some of our products have even found their way overseas.”
The Wards work hard to make their business work well. “We’re all about customer service,” said Amanda. “We make sure that customers are happy with their orders and we make sure that we complete their order as soon as possible,” she explained.
In addition to the custom work, Hometown Sports has a retail aspect to their business. This includes much preprinted apparel, all of which is suitable for walk-in customers.
“This apparel includes clothing with preprinted school logos, featuring St. Patrick School and Portland Schools,” said Amanda. “We also have clothing for schools in the Pewamo and the Westphalia areas, such as St. Joseph School, St. Mary School, and PW High School,” she said.
The Wards care about Portland and the surrounding community. “We love Portland,” said Amanda. “We were all born here and raised here. We appreciate the area and we have stayed here because of this,” she said.
The future looks bright for Hometown Sports. “We’re always looking for ways to expand our product line and to expand our printing capabilities, based upon what people tell us that they need,” said Amanda.
