Virk Leads Raiders Past Saranac in Boys Basketball

Aryan Virk scored 30 points as Portland defeated Saranac on Monday night 55-31. The Raiders led 39-11 at half-time. With the Raiders leading by 29 points at the end of third quarter, Portland Coach Jason Goerge showed coaching character by sitting his starting five, for the entire fourth quarter, allowing his less experienced players to get substantial playing time. In addition to Virk’s 30 points seven Portland players scored in the game including Zach Pier(7), Owen Russell (6), Grant Ruddy (4), Trent Meyers (3), Brody Smith (2), Luke Nobis (2) and Jordan Petersen (1). Portland is now 3-9 on the year and visit Lansing Sexton (3-8) on Friday night. Sexton defeated Portland by two points earlier in the season.
