MI Portland Downtown Recognized by Ionia Chamber
MI Portland Downtown has been recognized in the top five for Ionia Area Chamber of Commerce Chamber Member of the Year. With over three hundred members, the Board of Directors for Ionia Chamber seeks to highlight those who excel in participation and leadership.
MI Portland Downtown is a vibrant Downtown Development Group with eight active board members, fifteen regular volunteers and over fifty event volunteers. A year ago, all of Portland rallied together to come through a devastating four-week ice jam and flooding, with little change other than a renewed sense of community strength and togetherness. Building from there, MI Portland coordinated a core team, bringing together area organizations for a yearlong Sesquicentennial Celebration of its 150th Birthday. All while building programs for small business sustainability and continuing improvements for an inviting and welcoming community.
MI Portland Downtown, together with the City of Portland is enjoying unprecedented economic growth with millions in private investment. Eleven projects in five years, with 3 more slated for 2020. “We happily work together to create and a rewarding place to raise a family, a fun place to visit, and a fulfilling place to start, operate and grow a business,” stated Downtown Development Director, Tina ConnerWellman.
“We appreciate the opportunities the Ionia Chamber provides that allow us to network and promote our organization and the community of Portland. We are always proud to partner and to participate!” said Margery Briggs, long time volunteer and DDA Board member.
