Raiders Fall to Olivet in Boys’ Basketball

Portland traveled to Olivet on Tuesday night to play the host Eagles, minus the services of starting forward Grant Ruddy who stayed behind recovering from illness. Olivet prevailed in a close game 54-49 to improve their overall record to 3-6, while the Raiders fell to 2-6 on the year.

Olivet led at the end of the first quarter 14-8 and at the half 26-22. The fourth quarter began with the Raiders trailing 36-32. The Eagles made 6/13 free throws in the fourth quarter, while the Raiders only went to the line once, with the ever-steady Trent Myers missing his only free throw attempt of the game. Aryan Virk and Brody Smith both fouled out in the fourth quarter.

Owen Russell was the high scorer for the Raiders, with 13 points for the game, Virk added 12. Collins led four Olivet players who scored in double figures. Collins had 14 points, while Heston and Webb had 12 each and Bousseau added 10.

The Raiders next visit Charlotte on Friday night. The Orioles are 1-7 on the year.
