Obituary for Elizabeth Ann Seal


Elizabeth Ann Seal, age 81, of Portland passed away peacefully on January 21, 2020. She was born on September 10, 1938, the daughter of Alfred Sr and Lucy (Miller) Goodman of Portland.

Preceding Elizabeth in death were her parents; her husband, Gordon D. Seal; brothers, Jim and Mike Goodman; nephew, Brian Goodman; niece, Staci Rogers (Weatherbee), father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Genevieve Seal; daughter-in-law Kathy Seal; and brothers-in-law, David Bills, Dennis Seal, and Patrick Seal.

Liz is survived by her seven children, Cary (Barb) Seal of Portland, Rory (Robin Smith) Seal of Portland, Bradley Seal and Patricia Need of Portland, Darcy (Thomas) O’Mara of East Grand Rapids, Daniel (Victoria) Seal of Portland, Stacy (Robert) Gross of Portland, and Shawn (Amy) Seal of Portland; her 22 grandchildren, Anna (Ethan) Herriman, Carson Seal, India Schafer, Victoria Hall, Shane (Maura) O’ Mara, Brock O’Mara, Gavin O’Mara, Kiellie O’Mara, Megan (Nathan) Krause, Alec Seal, Daniel (Brittany) Seal, Lauren (Stephen) Sheren, Caitlyn (Caleb) Matson, Alex Werner, Garrett Gross, Meguire Gross, Delaney Gross, Ashleigh (Roger) Arnesen, MacKenzie (Montroy) Hooper, Logan Seal, Macey Seal, 5 great-grandchildren, Nelleigh, Nash, and Genevieve Arnesen and Elaina and Nora Sheren; brothers, Alfred (Carol) Goodman Jr., Pete (Ruth) Goodman, Pat (Luann) Goodman, Neil (Karrie) Goodman, Denny (Teresa) Goodman; sisters, Louise (Jim) Gensterblum, Alice Bills, Denise Goodman, Nancy Yager; sister-in-law Mary Ann Goodman, Patricia (Ron) Weatherbee, SuzI Seal, Joyce Matheny; brothers-in-law, Thomas “Buck” (Janie) Seal, Marvin (Doogie) Seal; and several nieces and nephews.

iz was a graduate of Portland St. Patrick High School and married Gordan D. Seal on December 1, 1956 to which they celebrated 38 fabulous years. Liz worked for the Portland Public Schools for 18 years and owned a catering and a wall paper business (The Owl’s Nest). In retirement, she spent time with family, friends, and loved to travel. She will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the love and care that the staff of The Portland Assisted Living and Memory Center provided her on a daily basis.

Liz’s family will receive friends and family at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland from 2-4 p.m. (rosary at 3:30 p.m.) & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2020. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Portland Community Fund, in honor of Liz. Condolences may be left to her family at www.lehmanfuneralhome.com.
