PHS Senior Jada Walton Signs with LCC
On Thursday afternoon, Jada Walton, a senior shortstop at Portland High School, signed to play softball at Lansing Community College.
Recently retired PHS softball coach Jack Anderson said, “LCC is very lucky to get a player of Jada’s caliber. She is a very versatile player. Can play shortstop, second base, and catcher. She is an outstanding hitter.”
Anderson added, “LCC is going to be a great fit for her. I think this definitely could lead to the next level after two years. She is very talented and will add a lot to the Stars program.”
When asked about her decision, Walton said, “I am super excited to attend LCC and I can't wait to be on the softball field with Abby (Grys) and Dree (Novara) again. I think that LCC will be a great fit for me academically, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to play the sport I love in college.”
Both Grys and Novara were standouts at PHS and are current players at LCC.
As for her upcoming senior season at PHS, Walton said, “I am super excited for my senior season of softball, this year I think will be super fun and I can't wait to go out there one last time with my best friends and give it our all.”
