Military Appreciation Game as Portland Hosts Charlotte on September 20th

The Portland High School football program will be hosting their Military Appreciation Game on September 20th when they host the Orioles of Charlotte.


Anyone with military ID, active or veterans, will get into the game for free.  Multiple branches of the United States armed forces will be present with vehicles and/or activities. 


There will be a hospitality tent before game with refreshments for those with military ID. 


Each player for both teams will be playing for a designated honoree. Players will be announced along with honorees prior to kick off.   Each team will have three honorary captains


T-shirt’s on sale now at PHS for $10 each. The shirts are already made and ready for purchase. 

Pregame announcements will start earlier than normal for this game, tentatively at 6:45 PM, with kick off scheduled for 7:00 PM..

 

At the end of first quarter cheerleaders will be going around the stands collecting donations for VFW Post 4090 of Portland’s relief fund. This fund is specifically for veterans in need, their families, or surviving spouse/children. The fund recently helped finance the construction of a handicap ramp for a local veteran.
