Raiders Cross Country Teams Run Hard in Dewitt

It was a hot, muggy, rainy and very,very hilly course at the St. Francis Retreat Center in Dewitt on Tuesday afternoon. DeWitt hosted 16 area cross country teams in the Hoka One One Postal Nationals Cougar 2-Mile Invitational. (Yes that is correct "One One").
Three Portland runners finished in the top 100 in the Girls Division out of 172 participants. Freshman Valarie Hoppes placed 36th overall with a time of 14 minutes 24 seconds. Sophomore Alania Volk placed 78th, with a time of 15:42, and Freshman Maya Estell placed 93rd with a time of 16:11. Jr. Kaitlyn Hynes of DeWitt placed first in the Girls Division with a time of 12:04
Jr. Carter Rosier led the Portland boys team, placing 66th out of 198 runners, with a time of 12:25, followed closely by Sr. Andrew Seavey who placed 81st with a time of 12:25. Sr. Ashton Walker of Pewamo-Westphalia placed first overall in the Boys Division with a time of 10:05.
The Raider Cross Country Teams are in action again next week on Wednesday, August 28th at the Saranac Invitational.
