Beginning September 9, several Portland-area churches will sponsor the community-wide Monday Night Meal program at First Congregational Church, 421 E. Bridge St. in Portland from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
Now in its 13th year, the popular program occurs each Monday through May 18 to offer a nutritious meal in a social setting. New this year is a “Grab and Go” feature, allowing busy patrons to pick up their meal and take it with them.
Meal delivery is also available for local shut-ins by calling the church office at (517) 647-6441 on Mondays before 1:30 pm.
There is no charge for the meals; however, free-will donations are accepted. Following the meal, a worship service led by First Congregational’s Rev. April Barrett is held in the church sanctuary.
Local churches rotate to provide the food, volunteer cooks and servers.
