Four Portland residents have submitted petitions to run in the November 5, 2019 City Council elections by today’s 4:00PM deadline. They include incumbents Jim Barnes and Joel VanSlambrouk. The other two candidates are newcomers Tom St Amour and Erica Sheehan. The four will compete for one of three open seats. The top two vote getters will earn a four year seat, while the third place finisher will earn a two year seat. Portland City Council is non-partisan and all seats are considered at-large, city wide jurisdictions. The Beacon is planning to profile each candidate prior to the election.
