Veteran of the Game Program Seeking Nominations

For the 2019 Portland Raider football season, VFW Post 4090 and American Legion Post 129 have teamed up with The Portland Beacon for a veteran recognition program called “Veteran of the Game.”

One selected veteran will be honored during the pre-game activities at PHS home football games on:

• August 29th vs. Ovid-Elsie

• September 6th vs. DeWitt

• October 4th vs. Eaton Rapids

• October 11th vs. Ionia

We are seeking nominations for a local military veteran to be recognized at each of these home games. If you know a local veteran that you would like to see honored, please complete the form HERE to let us know why they should be recognized. Nominations will remain open until August 1, 2019. At that time, The Beacon, along with VFW Post 4090 and American Legion Post 129, will select one veteran to be recognized at each game. The chosen veteran will also be the topic of an article in the Beacon that week.

PHS will also be hosting “Veteran Appreciation Night” on September 20th when the Raiders host Charlotte.
