With Only Three Days Left “Local 3000” Fundraising Campaign Still Far from Goal

The Portland Beacon’s “Local 3000” fundraising campaign needs your help. The campaign ends this Sunday, June 30th, and we have only received pledges totaling $658. That is only 22% of the $3,000 goal. “Local 3000” is a fund for the sole purpose of paying local contributors for local content on The Portland Beacon. The goal of this campaign is to raise $3,000 to cover 100 pieces written by paid writers.

While we do have some fantastic local businesses and organizations paying for advertising on The Beacon, at this time these funds are only enough to cover basic costs and a few pieces of paid content each month. The Beacon needs to raise funds to pay for more pieces. We have a lot of great things going on in this community that deserve being covered.

None of the money raised in this campaign will go to me personally or to other expenses of the Beacon, but will be used exclusively to compensate local writers who write content for the Beacon. The money will go to making the Beacon better source of local news and information. To support a dedicated team of regular paid contributors.

The “Local 3000” campaign ends June 30th. As with any Kickstarter campaign, the full goal must be reached for the project to be funded. It is all or nothing. If the project does not reach the $3,000 goal, the Beacon receives nothing.
