The Portland Beacon Needs Your Help to Survive and Grow
We have a lot of great things going on in this community that deserve news coverage. The Beacon’s team of contributors works diligently to provide that local coverage, but we need your help to maintain current levels and grow moving forward.
The first way you can help is by volunteering to contribute content. You do not need to be a trained journalist to do this. All we ask for is that you be passionate about the community, and be willing and able to provide a fair and honest summary of local events, groups, people and businesses. It could be covering school board meetings, high school events, local business news, or even a local non-profit you care about. We need all the eyes and ears we can get to help build a more informed and engaged community.
The second way you can help is by supporting the Beacon financially. To supplement the volunteer contributors, we do have a handful of paid contributors just waiting for more assignments. Proceeds from monetary contributions from readers, as well as revenue from local advertising dollars helps us keep these paid contributors busy.
With advertising options starting at $40 a month, we are confident that you will not find a better value for locally focused advertising. We also offer customized sponsored content which is a great way to get in depth information about your small business or non-profit in front of a truly local audience.
To contribute, click HERE. Please note, we are NOT a non-profit organization so contributions are NOT tax deductible, but we cannot live on advertising alone. In today’s digital world, local businesses have too many advertising options to choose from. We are dependent on financial support of our readers. Your contribution supports local journalism and helps us build a more informed and engaged community.
