Shamrock Baseball Wins CMAC Opener
The Shamrock Baseball team travelled to Potterville to defend its unbeaten record and begin a tough CMAC schedule. Lightning forced them off the field during the second game of the doubleheader, but the Shamrocks were able to win the first one 13-0 and remain undefeated.
Nathan Lehnert got the shutout win, pitching 6 innings and giving up 2 hits, no walks and 12 Strikeouts. Offensive leaders were Devin Fedewa- 3 for 4, 1 RBI, 1 double, 1 triple. Evan Schrauben- 3 for 4, 1 RBI. and Connor Cross who all went 3 for 4, 1 RBI, 1 triple.
Coach Bryan Scheurer was thrilled with the win against one of the area’s top pitchers. "Way to grind and get Harns to the pitch count (105) in 5 innings. He is one of the best, if not the best pitcher we will face in the league. Nathan was always ahead in the count and just threw outstanding. We had some young guys really step up and compete in the box against a future collegiate throwing lefty."
The Shamrocks were continuing their sound play in the second game, leading 5-0 when a lightning strike in the 3rd inning forced a cancellation. The makeup game has not been scheduled yet.
The Shamrocks play next Thursday, away at Laingsburg at 4:00 pm.
