Raider Golfers Fall to Lakewood

The PHS boys’ varsity golf team opened their 2019 season yesterday afternoon in some rather disconcerting weather conditions for playing golf. With the graduation of two thirds of last season’s scoring lineup, a new, young and varsity level inexperienced generation of Raider golfers came out on the short side of yesterday’s dual match played against Lakewood at the Portland Country Club by the score of 184 to 197.

Anchoring the Raider scorers, Zach Pier took top individual honors in the match with a nine hole round of 43. Spencer Pohl finished with 46; Jared Thomas shot a 52; Ethan Getchell and Luke Nobis each came in with 56.

The varsity will send a six player team to the links again today to open up league play with the first of six, six-team jamborees at Bonnie View Golf Course in Eaton Rapids.
