Bath outlasts St. Patrick's Boys

On Thursday, February 14th, the Portland St. Patrick's Shamrocks visited Bath for a showdown with the Bees. After a few weeks of down time, the Shamrocks ran out of gas and fell to the Bees 51-42.

In the 1st quarter, the teams went back and forth before ending the quarter in a 12-12 tie. Brandon Scheurer led the Shamrocks with 9 points.

The Shamrocks surged forward in the 2nd quarter, winning the quarter 20-14. Six different St. Patrick's players scored in the quarter. The Shamrocks led 32-26 at halftime.

St. Patrick's came out noticeably fatigued in the 2nd half, and were unable to keep up with the Bees. Bath won the 3rd quarter 11-5, making it a tied ball game coming into the 4th quarter.

The Bees continued to play faster than the Shamrocks in the 4th quarter, and stifled the St. Patrick's offense, again only allowing 5 points and scoring 14.

Coach Mark Scheurer had solid answers for the loss. "Tale of two halves. Chalk this one up to losing our legs in the second half with having only two practices in the last three weeks."

Offensive leaders for the Shamrocks were Brandon Scheurer with 19 points 10 rebounds 4 assists and 2 steals , Nate Leahy with 8 points 5 rebounds and 1 block, and Connor Cross with 6 points 7 rebounds 2 steals and 1 block.

St. Patricks plays at Fowler on Saturday, February 16th, JV start time at 1 pm.
