St. Patrick's girls edge out the Fowler Eagles

On Tuesday, December 18th, the Lady Shamrocks traveled to Fowler for a showdown with the Eagles. Fowler showed up to play, and it took a good effort from St. Patrick's to win 50-43.
In the 1st quarter, the Shamrocks jumped out ahead on balanced scoring from 5 different players to win the quarter 11-6.
In the 2nd quarter, the Shamrock big men came to play, led by 5 from Samee Teachworth, and 6 from Mara Schrauben, the Shamrocks extended their lead, winning the quarter 15-12 and taking a 26-18 lead into the half.
In the 3rd quarter, someone put a lid on the rim for the Shamrocks, and the Eagles were able to win the quarter 8-3, making the score 29-26 coming into the final quarter.
The 4th quarter brought a scoring fest, as the Shamrocks put in 21 points, and were able to hold down the surging Eagles to 17. Led by Lydia Meredith who had a field goal and was good from the line, going 5-8 in the final minutes, and Samee Teachworth also put in 6 points.
Offensive leaders were Mara Schrauben with 12 points, 2 steals, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block, Samee Teachworth with 11 points, 4 steals, 7 rebounds and 1 block, and Lydia Meredith with 9 points, 5 steals, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
Coach Al Schrauben was happy with his players, especially his big men. "Very good game out of Samee and Mara."
St. Patrick's plays Dansville at home, Thursday December 20th at 7:30 pm.
